DjedjotronicReal Name: Jérémy Cottereau
Origin: Paris, France

Early Life & Artistic Beginnings

Djedjotronic emerged from Paris with a raw, uncompromising vision of electronic music. Originally part of an indie band, Jérémy Cottereau decided to leave behind his guitar and embrace machines — buying an MPC and channeling his creativity into producing electronic sounds. His deep fascination with the intersection of art, technology, and sound sculpted the foundation of his style.

He draws inspiration from retro-futuristic aesthetics, 90s rave culture, Detroit techno, industrial music, European New Beat, and early Warp electronica. Rather than crafting glossy or trend-driven tracks, he favors tension, raw analog textures, dystopian drama, and a physical, almost mechanical energy.

Career & Discography

Over more than a decade of activity, Djedjotronic has developed a highly distinctive musical identity. He is closely associated with Boysnoize Records, one of his main platforms, but he has also worked with other forward-thinking labels like International Chrome and Italo Moderni.

  • Debut Album: In 2018, he released his first full-length album, R.U.R., on Boysnoize Records. The concept of the record is deeply rooted in sci-fi themes — robotics, artificial intelligence, and mechanized beings. On that album, he collaborated with Douglas McCarthy (of Nitzer Ebb) on the track “Take Me Down,” infusing his sound with an EBM (Electronic Body Music) edge
  • EPs & Singles: His discography also includes standout EPs like Kaikō, Boish, and The Great Red Spot. The “Boish” EP, in particular, is known for its twisted electro, raw percussion, and industrial textures
  • Collaborations: He has teamed up with other artists, notably REIN (Swedish electronic/post-punk artist) on the Transmutation EP, which combines cold, mechanical soundscapes with dystopian basslines and inspired lyrical themes
  • Film Scoring: Beyond club music, Djedjotronic has expanded into soundtrack work: he composed the music for the short film Le Ciel by director Sébastien Jounel, showcasing his ability to translate his moody electronic style into cinematic atmospheres
  • Label: More recently, he has been preparing a series of singles under his own imprint, Superwave, reinforcing his independence and long-term vision

Live Performances & Impact

As a DJ and live performer, Djedjotronic is just as compelling as he is in the studio. He moves seamlessly between sweaty basement venues and major techno hubs, such as Berghain, bringing an atmosphere of raw intensity and authenticity.

His shows are not just DJ sets: they’re performances that reflect his mechanical aesthetic, often incorporating harsh analog sounds and dark textures that align with his dystopian musical identity.

Collaborations & Remixes

Djedjotronic has worked with a number of significant figures in electronic music:

  • Miss Kittin: He released the Pleasure & Pain EP with her, blending her distinctive vocals with his rugged electro sound
  • Douglas McCarthy: As mentioned, McCarthy lent his voice to “Take Me Down” on R.U.R
  • Depeche Mode: He has remixed them, reinterpreting their work through his signature gritty and futuristic lens
  • He’s also remixed or collaborated with Tiga, Jensen Interceptor, and others, establishing himself in both the fringes and the heart of the electro / techno community.

Notable Tracks

Some of Djedjotronic’s most important or defining tracks include:

  • Kaikō” – title track from his Kaikō EP, inspired by Drexciya and Model 500
  • Boish” – from the Boish EP, known for its industrial drums and haunting, alien synths
  • Global Surveillance” – a track that ramps up the tension with harsh analog percussion and unsettling textures
  • Take Me Down” – featuring Douglas McCarthy, combining EBM vocals with dystopian electro
  • Abyssal Zone” – a darker, left-field techno / electro hybrid

Legacy & Influence

Djedjotronic is not an artist chasing mainstream acclaim — his power lies in his creative integrity. He is known for defying trends and chart-friendly formulas, instead building a signature sound rooted in raw analog production, dystopian futures, and deep emotional resonance.

He occupies a unique space in electronic music: a producer and DJ who honors the past (Detroit, New Beat, EBM) while pushing toward a future shaped by machines and science fiction. His work inspires listeners and fellow artists alike, providing a gritty, authentic, and visionary voice on the electronic spectrum.
